Kane Realty Raleigh Murals

Using art to reflect local history and bring identity into the urban landscape.

Kane Realty Corporation partnered with our team to create two large-scale murals in downtown Raleigh, each designed to celebrate the city’s cultural and environmental heritage. The goal was to transform blank walls into meaningful visual stories that connect with the surrounding community while enhancing the built environment.

Our role focused on artist sourcing, curation, and execution. We worked closely with Kane Realty to identify artists whose work could translate into impactful public pieces. For the mural titled “Spill,” we collaborated with fine artist Maya Freelon, whose original canvas work was adapted for the wall by artist Artie Barksdale. On a separate garage wall, artist Kate Lewis and her team created a landscape composition featuring native North Carolina birds and trees, grounding the work in local identity.

The result is a pair of murals that feel both rooted and expressive, turning everyday structures into landmarks. Together, the pieces reinforce how public art can bring character, storytelling, and a sense of place into the urban fabric.
