The Akampa Ocean Camp project began with a stretch of raw, untouched land along the shoreline of Magdalena Bay, one of Mexico’s most ecologically rich coastal regions. The vision was to create an immersive, design-led hospitality experience that invites guests to connect with nature while preserving the land’s integrity. Chaka partnered with Akampa to shape that vision into reality through strategic site planning, design implementation, and activation strategy.
The project’s development began with an in-depth analysis of the site’s environmental conditions including wind direction, topography, ocean views, and ecological sensitivity. These insights guided the placement of Jupe units and key infrastructure. Each structure was positioned to maximize privacy, minimize impact, and create a sense of seamless immersion with the surrounding landscape. Beyond design and layout, Chaka supported operational planning and programming that brings the camp to life through curated guest experiences and hospitality flow.
The result is a fully realized eco-retreat that balances comfort with conservation. Akampa now stands as a proof of concept for how thoughtful site strategy and modular design can transform untouched terrain into an experience-driven business that respects its environment.
